The Mists of Kavalan
In ancient times, the land of Yilan was called "Kavalan," a pristine terrain protected by the soaring Snow Mountain range and fertile Lanyang Plain. Remote and subtropical, this piece of land is situated in the northeast corner of Taiwan where bountiful rainfall and water filtered through Yilan's rich volcanic soil collide to provide Kavalan's mineral-rich water source. The history and terroir of this land have combined to create for you this exquisite whisky.
About the Whisky
Discover "Lán," an exceptional whisky crafted as a tribute to Yilan, the birthplace of Kavalan Distillery. Its name, also representing the Chinese character for "orchid," beautifully reflects the island's revered standing as the Kingdom of Orchids. The whisky emanates refreshing vanilla notes from bourbon barrels and the fusion of nutty, floral aromas from port casks. The palate is further enriched by Kavalan's STR technique that infuses the whisky with a caramelized fruity sweetness from Vinho wine casks. With its light elegance, pure aroma, and subtle balance among rich layers, Kavalan proudly presents the masterpiece - "Lán."
