Rare Champagne represents the highest level of craftsmanship at Piper-Heidsieck and is produced only in vintages of exceptional quality. Each Rare release is a long-term vision, shaped by time, precision and an uncompromising pursuit of excellence.
The Rare Millésime 2006 is a Champagne of remarkable depth and maturity, crafted from a finely balanced blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The 2006 vintage is known for its richness and generosity, resulting in a wine that combines power with refined elegance.
Following extended ageing in Piper-Heidsieck’s historic chalk cellars, the Champagne reveals impressive complexity. Aromas of candied citrus, ripe stone fruit and white flowers are layered with notes of toasted brioche, hazelnut and subtle spice. On the palate, it is full yet precise, with a creamy mousse, beautifully integrated acidity and a long, structured finish marked by mineral freshness.
The Rare Millésime 2006 has received exceptional critical acclaim, earning up to 97 points from leading international wine critics, recognising its balance, ageing potential and refined expression of the vintage.
Presented in the iconic Rare bottle, inspired by a 19th-century design and finished with handcrafted detailing, this Champagne is as distinctive in appearance as it is in character.
This vintage pairs superbly with lobster, scallops, veal, poultry with truffle or refined creamy dishes, while its structure and maturity also make it a compelling choice for collectors seeking a Champagne at peak expression.
Rich, elegant and critically celebrated, Piper-Heidsieck Rare – Millésime 2006 stands as a benchmark vintage Champagne, offering both immediate pleasure and timeless sophistication.
The 2006 Brut Cuvée Rare is a rich, gourmand rendition of this prestige bottling, unfurling in the glass with a complex bouquet that mingles aromas of yellow orchard fruit, pears and fresh pineapple with nuances of buttered toast, iodine and smoke. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and textural, while remaining fresh and surprisingly tight-knit at the core, concluding with a long and saline finish. There's sufficient structural tension here to promise more than a decade's graceful evolution, and although this is nicely balanced, it's a generous, sun kissed rendition of the Cuvée Rare that reflects the warm vintage. The blend is 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir: 94 Parker Points.
