Matured for 20 years and bottled at 44.8% ABV, this exceptional single malt represents the third chapter in The Macallan's prestigious TIME : SPACE Collection. More importantly, it marks a significant first for the distillery: TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask is the first Macallan to be influenced by sherry casks seasoned with its own Valdespino sherry since the historic Spanish sherry house came under The Macallan's ownership.
A new chapter in The Macallan's sherry story
Sherry-seasoned oak has played a defining role in The Macallan's character for generations, but TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask takes this relationship one step further.
The whisky began its long maturation journey on The Macallan Estate in a carefully selected collection of sherry-seasoned oak casks. Following this maturation, the whisky entered a second stage of sherry-cask influence through an additional marrying period.
For this final chapter, The Macallan selected casks from the first 200 sherry casks seasoned at its Valdespino bodega in Jerez de la Frontera. These historically significant casks arrived at The Macallan Estate in 2024, the year in which the distillery celebrated its 200th anniversary.
The result is a fascinating meeting of past and future: two centuries of Macallan whisky-making heritage combined with a new level of involvement in the sherry-cask journey that has helped define the distillery's unmistakable house style.
Rich, opulent and unmistakably Macallan
TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask delivers the deep dried-fruit richness and warming spice associated with exceptional sherry-matured Macallan.
The nose opens with sherry-soaked raisins, figs and Medjool dates, accompanied by frangipane, cinder toffee and caramelised nuts. Dark chocolate adds further richness, while cinnamon, star anise and ginger introduce an elegant layer of spice.
On the palate, the whisky becomes wonderfully opulent and complex. Sultanas, dates and apricots meet rich ginger cake, treacle toffee and bramble jam, followed by chocolate-coated cherries. Clove and cinnamon gradually build warmth before giving way to cocoa nibs and beautifully polished oak.
The finish is long and warming, combining wood spice with a subtle touch of espresso and gentle oak.
Its colour is entirely natural, reflecting The Macallan's renowned commitment to deriving colour from the interaction between spirit and exceptional oak.

The presentation is every bit as distinctive as the whisky itself.
TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask is housed in the collection's instantly recognisable circular vessel, conceived as a representation of the continuous passage of time – a fitting design for a whisky that has spent two decades developing its character.
For this release, the presentation also celebrates The Macallan's deepening relationship with Valdespino and Jerez.
The interior takes inspiration from the rounded form of Palomino grapes, the variety used to create the Valdespino sherry with which the casks are seasoned. Its warm yellow tones evoke the Andalusian sunshine falling across ripening grapes in southern Spain.
From Speyside to Jerez and back again, every element connects the presentation to the remarkable journey behind the whisky.
