Yamazaki 12 Years is an iconic single malt from Japan’s oldest commercial distillery, located at the foot of Mount Tennozan near Kyoto. Here, where rivers converge and the climate is humid, a unique microclimate develops that enhances maturation. This whisky ages twelve years in a carefully composed mix of ex-bourbon, sherry and rare Mizunara oak casks, yielding a layered aroma and flavor. On the nose you find ripe plums, sweet cherries and dark honey along with roasted grains, orange, apricot and green grapes. Subtle hints of vanilla and cinnamon are also noticeable. On the palate this single malt is silky-smooth and complex: juicy stone fruits mingle with honey, citrus and warm spice, while the oak provides structure and depth. The finish is long and elegant with recurring hints of vanilla, cinnamon and dried fruit. The Yamazaki distillery is regarded as the birthplace of Japanese whisky, and this 12-yearold expression was one of the first to draw international attention to the quality of Japanese single malts. Thanks to its balanced character it is versatile: enjoy it neat or with a drop of water, serve it alongside sushi or creamy desserts, and experience how Japanese craftsmanship and Scottish traditions come together in every sip.
